the tree has many leaves 这棵树长着许多叶子
cut them down 摘下它们
it does not die  树不会死亡
but,my dear,it has only some roots 但是，我亲爱的，它还长着一些根
cut them down  坎下它们
it does die 树必死无疑
you may count the green leaves to me 你可能正向我数着绿叶
you may pick the red flowers to me 还会为我摘下红色鲜花
but,my dear,the tree is dying       但是，我亲爱的，树木正在死亡
you did not know its empty roots    你不知道空空荡荡的树根
my heart is like a wet handkerchief    我的心变成了一块湿手帕
and once happiness was like a little bird  快乐曾像一只小鸟
but my dear,dry the cloth and the bird flew off 但是，我亲爱的，绞干手帕
from the tree top          鸟从树顶飞走

you do not belong here my dear 亲爱的,.你不属于这儿
