Touched by An Angel

We, unaccustomed to courage
exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.

Love arrives
and in its train come ecstasies
old memories of pleasure
ancient histories of pain.
Yet if we are bold,
love strikes away the chains of fear
from our souls.

We are weaned from our timidity
In the flush of love's light
we dare be brave
And suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
and will ever be.
Yet it is only love
which sets us free.

【诗人简介】Maya Angelou，梅娅•安婕罗，美国女作家、诗人。


　　诗人节（国际诗人节），由世界诗人协会、中国诗歌会主办，日期定为诗歌源头性人物孔子的诞辰日（阴历八月二十七日），组织评选年度十大金榜诗歌，终评孔子诗歌奖，举办带着诗歌去旅行系列活动。第三届诗人节（国际诗人节）拟于2015年10月9日至12日在山东曲阜举办，关注活动动态请到诗人网（http://www.shirenwang.com/）！
